Obituary

Teresa D. Graham (nee Grove) , 61, of Coatesville, PA, transitioned suddenly on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA. Teresa was born on October 22, 1963, at Coatesville Hospital, the fifth of six children born to the late Rev. Dr. Joshua Grove II and Margaret Grove (nee Harris).

With a career spanning over 35 years in the therapy and counseling industry, Teresa was dedicated to empowering individuals and families through support, guidance, and healing. Her work touched countless lives, from providing addiction recovery counseling to advocating for at-risk youth to supporting those in transition from incarceration. Teresa's professional journey was marked by a deep commitment to service, utilizing her skills and compassionate nature to foster growth, resilience, and transformation in every individual she encountered. Her work was a reflection of her belief in second chances, personal growth, and the power of community.

Teresa's academic career was just as remarkable as her professional one. She was a proud graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School, Class of 1981, where she laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to learning. Teresa furthered her education, earning an Associate of Science in Human Services from Lincoln University, where she began her path of service to others. She continued her academic journey, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Health from Alvernia University in 2014. Along with her formal education, Teresa earned numerous certifications throughout her career, strengthening her expertise in various fields of counseling, therapy, and holistic care.

In addition to her work in counseling, Teresa had a lifelong passion for cooking. What started as a love for preparing meals for her family blossomed into a professional pursuit when she became a certified Sous Chef through the Chester County Food Bank. Her culinary skills were put to good use as she worked at Wegmans as a Line Prep Sous Chef, where she brought her creative and nurturing spirit into the kitchen. Cooking was one of Teresa's greatest joys, and she loved sharing her passion for food with those around her.

Beyond her professional work, Teresa was deeply committed to volunteering. She served with AseraCare Hospice , offering comfort and care to hospice residents until her last day. Teresa's compassion and desire to help others navigate life's most difficult transitions reflected her heart of service.

In October 2020, Teresa and her husband, Wayne, took on the responsibility of caring for and preserving the Evergreen Colored Cemetery Project in Valley Township (Hayti), honoring the rich history of their community.

Teresa was also passionate about her family's heritage. She spent countless hours researching her maternal family's history, compiling records and photos that will be cherished for generations. Her love for her family, nature, and holistic health guided her every action. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, and spending time in the outdoors.

Teresa was a devoted wife to Wayne Graham, celebrating 44 years of marriage on May 23, 2025. She was the loving mother of Dwayne A. Graham, Portia Nichelle Graham-Mills (Jamar), Turron A. Graham, and Michael S. Graham (Trina). Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Dr. Joshua Grove II; brother, Stanley Roosevelt Grove; sister, Carmen M.
