Obituary

Steven D. Walls, 74, of Avondale, PA, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his wife, Darlene, and the final goodbyes of his devoted family and friends. Born on November 14, 1950, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Steve was raised in Kennett Square and was a proud graduate of Kennett High School, Class of 1970. While at Kennett, he was a dedicated member of the school's soccer team and carried that team spirit throughout his life. Steve was the beloved son of the late Kerry F. Walls and Alice Ruth Holliday Walls. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Donna Walls and Diane Hall. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Steve's life was marked by warmth, creativity, and a deep connection to those he loved. Steve was a hardworking and dedicated employee throughout his life. He recently retired from Brandywine Ace Pet and Farm in West Chester, PA. Over the years, he also brought his skills and strong work ethic to several respected employers, including West Chester Electric, TriState Electric, Waterloo Gardens, Keen Compressed Gas, BJ's Wholesale, Longwood Gardens, and International Paper. He was known for his reliability, kindness, and can-do attitude on and off the job. A true craftsman at heart, Steve had an enduring passion for woodworking. Whether building furniture, restoring antique wood pieces, or crafting custom creations, his hands and heart worked in harmony. He was also widely appreciated for offering his creative expertise in home renovations and design. Above all, Steve cherished time spent with his family and friends. He found his greatest joy in the company of his children, stepchildren—affectionately known as his "bonus babies"—grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His presence was a steady source of love, laughter, and encouragement. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Darlene Jenkins Walls; his son, Aron C. Walls and fiancée Lindsay, Ridley Park, PA; his daughter, Stephanie J. Walls, Wilmington, DE; his stepson, Matthew W. Jones and wife Kristen. Coatesville, PA; and his stepdaughter, Danielle K. Jones, Coatesville, PA.  His brothers also survive him: Conrad K. Walls of Thomson, GA; Gordan F. Walls of New London, PA; Brian H. Walls of Wilmington, DE; Rick Walls and wife Angie of Kennett Square, PA; and Gregory T. Walls and wife Anna of West Grove, PA; as well as his sister, Sharon Tavoni and husband David of Oxford, PA. Steve was a proud and loving grandfather to ten grandchildren: Jordin, Aiyanna, Ivannie, Sawyer, Sullivan, Tabor, Isaac, Aislynn, Xavier, Zaire, and Liam. In accordance with Steve's wishes, he will be cremated and no formal services will be held. His life will be remembered and celebrated privately by those who held him dear. Steve's legacy of love, craftsmanship, and generosity will live on in the hearts and homes of everyone he touched.
