Stephen Marquis Johnson, 45, of Coatesville, PA, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Paoli Memorial Hospital in Paoli, PA.

Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of the late Michelle "Suggie" Johnson and the late Stephen "Marty" Jones. Raised in a large family, Stephen was welcomed with tremendous love by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Being the oldest of 4 children, he embraced his role as a big brother with warmth and excitement. He always had his brother and sisters back.  Stephen was affectionately known as "Steph" or "Studder" by his family and friends.

In his youth, Steph enjoyed riding dirt bikes and go-karts, carrying his boombox radio, and playing sports. In middle school, he played football for the Gordon Panthers. Steph attended the Coatesville Area Public Schools and later proudly earned his GED. Despite life's challenges, Steph displayed resilience as his quest for knowledge, truth, and guidance caused him to have a desire to study both the Quran and the Holy Bible. His vibrant personality, compassion for others, and sense of humor contributed to him being a good friend and a great father. Steph was a quick learner and liked working with his hands. He was often called a "jack of all trades", as he was very talented. He was passionate about cutting hair and gave "fresh cuts" although he didn't pursue barbering as a profession. Steph previously worked for a privately owned company in Downingtown, PA where he was skilled at making archery targets. He had a great passion for dogs and sometimes trained them for other people. Steph enjoyed listening to various types of music including R&B, Gospel, and Rap; Tupac "2Pac" Shakur was his favorite rapper. He often had rap battles, karaoke nights, and played board games with his kids. Steph loved eating fried chicken, rice, pizza, and cheeseburgers.

When the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl, Steph was excited and ready to celebrate his favorite NFL team.  "Go Eagles!"

He also liked to exercise and work out. Most of all, Steph cherished his family, especially his children. He enjoyed attending family gatherings, including cookouts, reunions, holiday dinners, and celebrated milestones. Steph leaves precious memories of his love to his 11 children: Dapresha Hughes, Tatyana Hughes, Gianna Sciscione, Xavier Wilson, Sada Wilson, Dray Wilson, Beloved Johnson, Chicago Johnson, Sky Johnson, Ky'mani Johnson, and Marty Johnson; bonus daughter: Allaja Wilson; 4 grandchildren: John Jacobs, Tristin Hughes, Semaj McIntosh, and Demi Westfield; 3 siblings, Stephanie "Shar" Johnson, Jaszman Johnson, and Sean "Pree" Johnson; niece: Dakota Johnson; paternal grandfather, Charles "CJ" Trammell, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Steph was preceded in death by his daughter, Justice Johnson; maternal grandmother, Barbara Tooles Johnson; maternal grandfather, Frank Johnson, Sr, and paternal grandmother, Shirley Jones Coleman.

Stephen's funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 819 Coates Street, Coatesville, PA. A viewing will be held starting at 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM.
