Shyra Shirene Joseph, 47, of Coatesville, PA, passed away suddenly on September 2, 2023, Born and raised in Coatesville, she was the beloved daughter of Crystal Joseph and the late Carl Cannon, Jr, and her biological father, the late Samuel Johnson Jr.
Shyra was a caring and compassionate nursing professional who specialized in private duty care and nursing homes. She was known for her excellent caregiving skills, her heart of gold, her sense of humor, and her generous spirit. Shyra was a mother figure to many and had a special way of making everyone feel loved and cared for. She was also a fantastic cook and often cooked breakfast for all the kids on the block. She enjoyed listening to Gospel, Rap, and R&B music and was famous for her seafood salad and fried chicken.
She will always be remembered as a kind, caring, and loving person who touched the lives of so many she cared for in her community. Her memory will remain forever in the hearts of her loved ones and those whose lives she touched.
She leaves cherished memories to her daughters, Sharee Joseph, Shaquaia Woods, Tyra Joseph all of Coatesville, and Lauren Smith of Oxford; sons, Danquez Taltoan, Tyrique Joseph both of Coatesville; fiancé, Jaami Pooler of Downingtown; sisters, Carlysha Joseph, Kionna Purnell, Faatimah Johnson; brothers, Damion Dixon, Lamar Bookman, Carl Cannon III, Carl Brickus; 4 grandchildren: Cor'lyn Roberts, Aubrie Joseph, Ca'myah Roberts of Coatesville and Azaria Smith of Oxford; aunts, Cynthia Turner (Evan), uncles, David Joseph (Terri), Demetrius Joseph (Maggy) Godmother and aunt, Patty Joseph; favorite cousins: Kya Joseph, Gia Toaltoan, Courtney Joseph, Marquia Joseph, Curtis Shockley, Laura Butcher; best friends, Reba "Becky" Williams, Chimere Styer; special nephew, Justice Southerland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Nelly "Mom" Elizabeth Joseph; and grandfather, David Shockley.
Though her presence is gone, she will not be forgotten. She leaves behind a community that loves her deeply.
The family is grateful for the outpouring of love. Many thanks to all who have graciously donated.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Second Baptist Worship Center, 857 Lumber Street, Coatesville, PA. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Interment will be held privately.
