Shirley Gilliam Jacks, 80, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Park House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Royersford, Pa.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa, she was the daughter of the late William and Betsy Springer Gilliam. She was the beloved wife of the late Benny Jacks, Sr. with whom she shared 38 years of marriage.

Shirley attended schools within the Coatesville Are School District and the Historic James Adams School.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and feeding people.  She was found to be a very hospitable woman who loved to decorate, collect sea shells and plant flowers.  Amongst her other hobbies, she enjoyed watching football, basketball and track.  Another of her favorite things to do was listening to Gospel Music.

Her greatest joy was helping to raise her grandsons Steven and Edwin. She took great pride in taking care of them.

Shirley leaves cherished memories to her daughter Shirlene "Googie" Jacks; son, Benny Gilliam "Man" Jacks, Jr. of California, son, Shawn Jacks and his wife Meredith of Pottstown, Pa., daughter, Sheila Gilliam of Coatesville; two sisters, Yvonne Gilliam and Lillian Gilliam; grandchildren, Steven Jacks, Edwin Jacks, Robin Gilliam, Norman Gilliam, Martin Gilliam; Norma Jacks (mother of Steven and Edwin) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Ruby, Doris, Joyce, Estelle and William.
