Ruth Anna Barnes, 83, of Downingtown, PA passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Paoli Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Born in Coatesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Meads and Florence Irene Thomas Meads.

Ruth was educated in the Downingtown public schools and a graduate of Downingtown High School.  She was employed at Denney-Rayburn factory in West Chester and Burroughs in Downingtown for many years.

Ruth was a devoted mother who was dedicated in raising her children.  She enjoyed baking pies, canning jams, sewing, singing, listening to gospel music, and collecting elephants.

She is survived by her son, Samuel A. Barnes (Carol) of Coatesville, PA; daughter, Lisa L. Barnes of Downingtown, PA; brother, Robert Meads of Townsend, Delaware; 3 grandsons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel A. Barnes, Sr.; sisters, Marie Green, Florence Miller, and Harriet Sweeney; brothers, Pat Miller, Wesley Miller, Elmer Miller, and grandson, Alfonso "JR" Grier, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Wright Funeral Services, 725 Merchant Street, Coatesville, PA. A viewing will be held from 3:00 PM until the time of the service. Masks are required.
