(Howard) Mcclain, Jr.
April 28, 1941 – September 16, 2025
Roy Howard McClain, Jr., 84, of Kennett Square, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the West Chester Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in West Chester, PA.
Born in Lamison, Alabama, he was the son of the late Roy Howard McClain, Sr., Dessie Ree Norton McKee, and stepfather, James McKee.
He was known as Howard by his family and friends. Howard was a graduate of Kennett Consolidated Schools. He worked as an independent contractor for many years, doing home interior projects and many types of construction.
Howard enjoyed deep-sea fishing, cooking, hiking, and sports. He enjoyed nature and being outdoors. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He enjoyed taking care of his old maroon Mustang and listening to old school Jazz.
He will be deeply missed by his sons, Roy Howard McClain III of Coatesville, Gary L. McClain of West Grove, Derrick E. McClain of Lancaster; daughters, Tina M. McClain of Woxall, PA, Dionne Y. McClain of Coatesville; siblings, Robert Norton (Sarah) of Birmingham, Alabama, Mary Lee McClain of Kennett Square, Brenda Davis (Kenny) of Houston, Texas, Rickie L. McKee (Barbara) of Atlanta Georgia; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild, his former spouse, Elaine Marie McClain and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ferris L. McClain; brothers, Leonard McClain, Benson McKee (Lisa), Clifton E. McKee, sister, Janice McKee; great-grandson, Dametrius McClain-Jackson; nephews, Keith McClain, Tim Stevens; and great-nephew, Derrick Cash.
Though he is gone, he will not be forgotten. His memory will be cherished in the hearts of those he loved.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3470 Gap Newport Pike, West Grove, PA.
