Obituary

Robert L. Wright, Sr., 93, of Malvern, departed this life April 20, 2011, at the Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester.

Born in Malvern, he was the oldest of seven children born to the late John Henry Wright and Anna R. Twisdale Wright.

He was the widower of Beulah Cobb Wright, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

He was a World War II veteran.

Mr. Wright was a 1936 graduate of Tredyffrin/Easttown High School. He was also a graduate of Banks Wright, who graduated in 1942 from Lincoln University

Mr. Wright was employed by the Coatesville Area school district. He had been Assistant Superintendent, director of pupil services and former president of the NAACP's Main Line branch and served on the state NAACP executive board.

He is survived by a son, Robert L. "Barney" Wright, Jr. and his wife Blanch; one brother, Calvin D. Wright of Exton; his grandchildren; and great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Wright was preceded in death by four brothers, John E. Wright, Augustus M. Wright, Kenneth Wright and The Rev. Vernon S. Wright; one sister, Evelyn Wright Turner.

Services will be held at 6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 11, at Mount Zion AME Church, 380 N. Fairfield Drive, Devon.

Viewing will begin at 2:30 p.m.

A two-hour visitation with the family will be held from 3 to 5 p.m.

Committal and interment with military honors will be held on Monday, Feb. 12, at 10 a.m at Rick's Memorial Cemetery in Devon.
