Rev. Daryl A. Perry, Sr.

Rev. Daryl A. Perry, Sr., 62, of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord while surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Paoli Memorial Hospital in Paoli, Pennsylvania.

Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Elwood H. Durnell, Frank Small and JoAnn Perry Small.

Rev. Perry was the devoted and loving husband of Lady Yvonne E. Perry, with whom he shared 25 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, service, and love.

Daryl received his education through the Coatesville Area School District. Throughout his life, he had an unwavering passion for helping young people. For nearly 30 years, he dedicated his career to working with delinquent youth, serving not only as a counselor but also as a mentor, coach, father figure, and minister. His compassion, wisdom, and encouragement forever changed countless lives.

His greatest calling was serving the Kingdom of God. A faithful member and leader within the Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God of the Americas, Rev. Perry answered God's call to pastor and most recently served as Pastor of First Apostle Fire Baptized Holiness Church in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. Whether preaching from the pulpit, praying with someone in need, or simply sharing words of encouragement, he faithfully pointed others toward Christ.

Outside of ministry, Daryl found joy in bringing people together. He loved traveling with his wife, cooking, and especially grilling for family and friends and church events. The more people gathered around the table, the happier he was. His personality was larger than life, his laughter contagious, and his presence unforgettable. He never met a stranger who wouldn’t become his friend. Daryl had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved.

A lifelong Philadelphia sports enthusiast, Daryl proudly cheered on the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia 76ers, and Philadelphia Phillies. He also co-owned D&Y Perry Dezines and Custom Queen alongside his wife, faithfully serving the Coatesville community through their family businesses.

Above every accomplishment, his greatest pride and deepest joy were his children and especially his cherished grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as "Pop-Pop." They brought endless smiles to his face and immeasurable joy to his heart.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his beloved wife, Lady Yvonne E. Perry; three daughters, Darla Hines, Shameka Brown, and Marzay Lackey; four sons, Idris Grove, Darrell Woodward, Tyrone Reyes, and Benjamin Bowman; his brothers, Rev. Barry Perry of Coatesville, Darrell Simpson of Connecticut; sisters, Deszere Green of Connecticut, Kristen Durnell of Coatesville, Lynnette Small-Holmes of Coatesville, and Carletha Small of Lancaster; eighteen beloved grandchildren: Roman Perry, Chandler Woodward, Zy'Mere Hines, Francisco Hall, Jr., Jabari Hall Hines, Darion Hall Hines, Malachi Hall Hines, Zuri Hall Hines, Trinity Brown, De'Aja Jackson, Syniyah Brown, Rashad Brown, Syn'Ajah Brown, A'Million Grove-Bowman, Lilliana Reyes, TyLai Boyd, Bria Jaelynn Reyes, and McKenzie Lackey; three aunts, Randy Perry, Pauline Miller, Peggy Perry and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, countless spiritual children, and many dear friends whose lives were forever touched by his love and ministry.

Daryl was preceded in death by his father, Elwood Howard Durnell; step-father Frank Small; his mother, JoAnn Perry Small; his beloved son, Darryl A. Perry, Jr.; and his brothers, Minister Galen Small and Tyrone Clarke.

The family knew Daryl for his unforgettable sense of humor and his hilarious portrayal of "Sister Sally" from the famous "Don't Piss Me Off Church" skits that brought laughter to so many. Yet behind the humor was a humble man who deeply loved God and sincerely desired to live a life that honored Him.

One of the statements he often shared best summarized the testimony of his life:

"I'm not a perfect man. I'm not a perfect husband. I'm not a perfect father. But I serve a perfect God."

Today, although our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the promise of God's Word. We take comfort in knowing that Rev. Daryl A. Perry, Sr. has finished his race, kept the faith, and is now forever present with the Lord whom he faithfully served.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Coatesville Bible Fellowship, 6 North 4th Avenue, Coatesville, PA. The viewing will begin at 9:00 AM, then a time of visitation with the family at 10:00 AM.

Interment will be held in New Evergreen Cemetery, Coatesville, PA.
