Obituary

Reginald L. "Reggie" Gilliam, of Pittsburg PA, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 1, 2023, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, in Allegheny County. He was 67 years old. Reggie, as he was affectionately known, was born in Philadelphia, PA, in 1956, a son of the late Doristeen (Tinsley) Gilliam and John Arthur Gilliam, Sr. He was the beloved husband of Lucy N. (Ajuba) Gilliam with whom he shared 20 years of marriage. Reggie was full of life!  Known for his kind and "Tell it like it is" or "How he thought it was" personality. He was very generous and would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. He enjoyed listening to music, particularly Reggae, in addition to listening to music he enjoyed fishing and cooking such foods as, BBQ Ribs, collard greens, and yum yum macaroni & cheese. Every year he looked forward to coming back home to Coatesville for "Family & Friends Day".

When he wasn't working in his occupation as a contractor. He could often be seen watching the television show "The Beverly Hillbillies". People were drawn to Reggie and it was easy for him to make acquaintances, to know him was to love him.  He loved talking on the phone with family and friends. He was wise and outspoken, and you would know what was on his mind. Some of his famous sayings were "If I had your hand, I'll turn mine in" "I'm overworked and underpaid" "Rosclot" "Bloodclot" and "Little More". In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Kenneth D. Gilliam, Sr., John A. Gilliam, Jr., and Demetrius "Meechie" Gilliam, Sr.; and sister-in-law Leslie Gilliam. Reggie leaves precious memories to his wife Lucy N. Gilliam of Pittsburgh; children; Reginald Hopkins (April) of Harrisburg, Monique Harris of Philadelphia, Daphne Miller (Michael) of Coatesville, Alicia Gilliam of Coatesville, and Chidera Gilliam of Pittsburgh;  sisters, Valerie Campbell, Michelle Gilliam, Gigi Gilliam all of Coatesville; brothers, Melvin Gilliam and Bernard Gilliam both of Coatesville, Clark Gilliam of Atglen, PA, Anthony Dingle of Georgia and Good friend Apostle Bobby G Duncan of Coatesville; 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
