IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ramon Lee
Middleton
April 26, 1935 – December 1, 2024
Ramon Lee Middleton was the proud son of Arnold Rock Harris and Rachel A.M. Middleton. Born on April 26, 1935, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Ramon was raised in Rock Run by his mother and great aunt Annie.
Ramon was educated in the Coatesville Area School District. He attended Benner Elementary School and graduated from Scott Senior High School in 1954. Ramon had many talents and interests and excelled in both academics and athletics during his high school years, running track, playing baseball and competing as a swimmer. These early accomplishments set the stage for a lifetime of dedication and passion, despite the many obstacles he encountered along the way as an independent thinker and ambitious leader.
After graduation, he married the love of his life, Shirley Mattie Anne Ward. To that union were born Ramon Edward, Donna Renaie, and Terry LaVerne. After the unfortunate untimely death of his wife, he was blessed later in life to have a son, Arnold A.M.
Ramon was a devoted father, passionate community leader, and cherished friend. He lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. He was affectionately referred to by his countless nicknames to those who knew him best including: "Pop", "Stingem", "The R", and "The Ganny Paw". He was a man well-loved and respected. Ramon was an entrepreneur owning several businesses throughout Chester County, as well as the President of Tri-County Golfers, where he shared his love for the game and built lasting friendships on the greens.
Whether he was playing a hand of cards, fishing on a quiet lake, or hunting in the great outdoors, he embraced every moment with enthusiasm. Ramon's trips to Las Vegas and local casinos brought him endless joy, as did the time he spent tending to his garden and caring for the fruits of his labor.
After more than 40 years of dedicated service at Lukens Steel, Ramon retired on January 1, 1997, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
Throughout his life, he was known for his genuine kindness, feisty truth-telling, and having a deep love of good food, always finding ways to bring people together over a shared meal. Ramon will be remembered as a man who truly embraced life, spreading warmth and joy wherever he went.
Ramon passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley.
Ramon leaves to lovingly cherish his memory his lifelong companion, Laura E. Wilson; his 4 children, Ramon E. Middleton, Donna R. Newsuan (Alphonso), Terry L. Middleton, and Arnold A.M. Middleton (Serita); 9 grandchildren, Mark Norris (Adrienne), Steve Norris, Jr. (Ebony), Warren Merrick, Ill, Malaika Anyan (Samuel), Pierre Perry, Alvin (AJ) Mitchell, Jr., Arnold Middleton, Jr., Andrea Middleton, Ariana Middleton: 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Ramon's legacy lives on through his children, his many friends, and the countless lives he touched.
