Paul L. Johnson, 82, of Coatesville, passed away on December 20, 2013, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia. He was the son of the late Lawrence and Jeanette Johnson and shared 60 years with his beloved wife Dorothy E. Flowers Johnson.

Born in Coatesville, Mr. Johnson attended the Coatesville area public schools. He graduated in 1950 and attended St. Paul's College in Virginia and Wilson College District Justice School.

A veteran, he served two years in the US Army until he was honorably discharged in 1956. Mr. Johnson worked for 27 years at Lukens Steel Company, served as District Justice from 1985-94, president of the Coatesville Area School District from 2006-08, and was a current member of the Coatesville Area School Board.

Mr. Johnson was an active member of the Coatesville community and a life-long member of Hutchinson Memorial UAME Church in Coatesville. Over the years he served on numerous boards and organizations including Coatesville City Council, Coatesville Senior Center board of directors, the Chapter of Credit Unions in Lancaster and Chester Counties; Coatesville Cultural Society, board member of both the Coatesville Water Authority and the YMCA. He was also a member of the Lions Club, Lily of the Valley Lodge #59, Charles E. Gordon #65, and the Shriners Minaret Temple #174.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy E. Johnson; son, Bruce Johnson; grandson, Darryl Johnson, Jr. and his wife Ebony; two great-grandchildren Quadir Johnson and Kassidee Johnson; one sister Janice Solen all of Coatesville, and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Darryl Johnson, Sr.
