Palmira Laracuente Matos, 61, of East Fallowfield passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Neighborhood Hospice Center in West Chester. Born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico , she was the daughter of Esteban and Emma Laracuente. She was the beloved wife of Pedro Matos with whom she shared 44 years of marriage.
She received a Masters degree in Education from West Chester University and an additional Masters degree from the University of Turabo. She completed Divinity School and was currently working toward a Doctorates degree. Palmira was employed as a teacher at the 9-10 center in the Coatesville School District for 22 years.
She is survived by her husband Pedro Matos; a daughter, Janet Matos-Duncan; two sons, Peter Matos, Jonathan Matos; eight siblings, Anselmo Laracuente, Bernabe Laracuente, Julia Laracuente, Antonia Rivera, Marta Ortiz, Maria T. Rivera, E. Milagro Figueroa, Aurea Pagan; 3 grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held
11 AM,
Monday, March 14, at Saint Matthew Assembly of God, 1206 Pottstown Pike, West Chester. Viewing will begin at 9:30 AM. Interment will be in Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer.
Memorial contributions may be sent in her memory to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Condolences can be shared the guestbook link provided. Flowers can be sent to the church on the service day.
