IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Moses S.

London

July 1, 1942 – August 31, 2024

Obituary

Moses S. London was born in Coatesville, PA on July 1, 1942. He was the son of the late Doris W. Dickinson and Moses Oscar London. He was the husband of Estella Chambers-London with whom he shared 16 years of marriage, and 25 years together.

Moses's last years of employment included working at Penn Dot as a driver until he was injured. He later was employed at the Brandywine Hospital as the Supervisor of Environmental Services. Moses retired from the hospital, but he could not sit still for long. He decided to find employment at "Fluff and Fold Laundromat", and soon became known as, "The Laundry Man" Moses was a member of Enon Missionary Baptist Church in West Grove, PA. He was also a member of the Mt. Vernon  Elks Lodge Post #151 and the VFW Post #2404.

Moses had a passion and craft for making canes. While going on country rides with his beloved wife, he would search for tree branches to make crafted biblical canes. On Fridays, his brother Danny would stop by and they would sit on the porch while Moses was making his canes. People would ride by shouting, "The Cane Man". Moses had learned to master the craft so well that people began to buy them, but being the man he was, he started giving away. His canes had biblical sayings on them like, "Jesus Lead the Way" and "The Lord is the Light".

Moses enjoyed going to Golden Corral on Sundays after church, or just anywhere with a buffet for he loved to eat. He enjoyed sitting in the window "sight-seeing" as he called it; Black Entertainment on the streets of Coatesville. You could find him in his favorite chair working on his cross puzzles, enjoying watching Family Feud, MSNBC, or any type of political news. He believed in staying up on what was going on in the world.

He enjoyed watching "The Young and The Restless" with his wife. You would never see Moses and his wife apart for they were joined at the hip. Besides his wife and family, Moses' love was for the Lord God Almighty. He loved his church family and enjoyed going to church on Sunday mornings. He loved to sing in the choir and would greet everyone as he came through the door. Moses passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at age 82 years old.  In addition to his parents, Moses was preceded in death by his sons, Tyrone London and Timothy London; sister, Brenda London and daughter-in-law, Brenda Chambers.
