Melinda M. Keasley Torain's Obituary

Melinda Marie Keasley Torain, 63, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Hospice & Community Care in Lancaster County.

Born on September 26, 1961, in Coatesville, PA., she was the daughter of Dorothy Mae Keasley Culclasure and the late William Culclasure Sr.  She married William Mark Torain on August 2, 1997. Together they shared 26 years of marriage.

Melinda attended the Coatesville Area public schools. She was a 1980 graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School.  She worked at the Giant Food Store as a Cashier and front-line worker for over 20 years. Her other jobs include Jamesway, Kmart, Blockbuster, and Walmart. She was also a tax preparer for Jackson-Hewitt. Most recently, she worked at Conestoga Valley School District in the cafeteria until she became ill.

Melinda loved to travel, play piano, and cook big meals. She also loved talking with people, going to church, and being around her family. Melinda loved her dog CiCi and her bird Tee. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and R & B, coloring, and playing computer games. She was easy-going, passionate, and a hard worker.

Melinda's religious foundation started at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Coatesville. She became a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in York, PA, under Dr. Thaddeus Godwin, where she was a deaconess. Melinda served on the usher board and the kitchen committee.  Later, she re-joined Tabernacle Baptist Church in 2022, where she served on the Mother's Board.

Melinda's life mission was acts of service.  She was a good listener, gave good advice, and was always willing to give a helping hand.

Melinda will be deeply missed by her husband, William Torain of Lancaster; daughter, Anya Marie Keasley (Curtis Nelson, Jr.) of Coatesville, daughter gained through marriage, Tiffany Torain of Washington, DC; mother, Dorothy Mae Keasley Culclasure; two honorary mothers, Rev. Thelma A. Wilson (Harlan) and Virginia Joy Meeks both of Coatesville; siblings, William Raymond, Jr.(Stephanie) of Coatesville, Major Culclasure (Michele) of Beaumont, Texas, Deacon Michael Culclasure (Stacey) of Coatesville, Eric Omar (Tosha) of Parkesburg; six grandchildren, Cyntrell, Ceeana, Curtis III, Zaira, Jesus, and Noah; father in law, William Holmes of Spring City; and close nieces, LaVada Strickland of Florida and Kanina Terrell of Philadelphia; special friends, Gloria Floyd, Edith Fleshman, Theresa Brown, and Ms. Helen with whom she worked with at Giant Food Store and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, William R. Culclasure, Sr.; granddaughter, Kyliene Torain; uncles, Morgan Z. Keasley, and Charles R. "Duke" Keasley; grandparents, Charles R. and Thelma O. Keasley; mother-in-law, Barbara Torain; sister-in-laws, Brenda Ortega, Deborah Torain, and Deonnia Holmes.

We will miss Melinda's caring spirit and beautiful smile. Though she is gone, she will not be forgotten. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Homegoing Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 819 Coates Street, Coatesville, Pennsylvania. A viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.

Interment will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA. The procession will depart from Wright Funeral Service on Monday at 8:00 AM.

Flowers may be sent to the church. The theme color is blue.
