Mary Lee Goodley, 78, of Coatesville, PA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA.

Born in Coatesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jack Goodley and Nellie Christmas Goodley.

Mary was a resident of the Merakey group home where she demonstrated remarkable resilience and cheerful character. Her caregivers and companions often spoke of her caring heart and ability to find moments of joy and connection amidst adversity.

Mary deeply appreciated the simple pleasures in life, such as listening to music, enjoying nature, and engaging in the arts and crafts activities that brought her solace and happiness.

Her unexpected departure has left a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and cared for her. Despite the hardships she encountered, Mary touched the lives of many with her gentle nature and unwavering courage.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by a sister, Betty Ann Goodley.

She is survived by her brothers, Kellop Goodley of Columbia, PA, William Goodley of California, Matthew Goodley of Thorndale, PA, and Robert Goodley of Downingtown; sister, Ternica Marlene Peterson of Lancaster, PA, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by the Merakey community that cared for her, who will remember her for the quiet inspiration she provided.

Mary was also deeply grateful for the dedicated caregivers who supported her for many years, providing comfort and companionship that enriched her life immeasurably.

Mary's presence will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Wright Funeral & Cremation Services, 725 Merchant Street, Coatesville, Pennsylvania, where friends and family are invited to celebrate Mary's life and share their memories.  The viewing will be held from 10 AM until the service time.
