Obituary

Marjorie Frances Moore Elliott was born on March 27, 1928, in Coatesville, PA. She was the second of seven children born to the late Augustus Moore and Pearl Elva Wilson Moore.

Marjorie grew up in a close-knit community, the east end of the City of Coatesville. She received her early education from the historic James Adams Elementary School and S. Horace Scott Senior High School. Her spiritual upbringing began at the First Apostle Fire Baptized Holiness Church, where she attended with her family.

Marjorie met and married James Calvin Elliott, Sr. They shared many years of marriage until he passed away in 2001.

She worked as a housekeeper.  She showed extraordinary strength and grace as she instilled in her children the values of hard work, integrity, and faith.  She loved to laugh and share precious stories. She also loved to cook and host holiday cookouts for her family in which friends and those in the community were always welcome.

Most of all, she was a God-fearing woman who found great joy in attending church and praising the Lord. She was a faithful member of New Hope Glad Tidings Church.  Her radiant spirit and unwavering dedication to her faith in God inspired those around her, leaving an indelible mark on her community. Her presence in church services and her outward expression of praise to the Lord will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her role as a mother, Marjorie was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her family, delighting in the laughter and love that filled their gatherings.

At age 97, Marjorie went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025. In addition to her parents, she joins her sisters, Pearl V. Hendry, Mildred H. Lewis, Juanita M. Miller, Romaine M. Jenkins; brothers, Augustus Moore, Jr., and Lester R. Moore.  Her deep devotion to her faith was a guiding light throughout her life and to those she leaves behind.

Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Charlotte D. Wilson, Diane Ransom both of Coatesville; sons, James C. Elliott, Jr. (Vanessa) of Lancaster, Charles Wayne Elliott of Coatesville; eleven grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister-in-law, Sheila Moore; a good friend, Beverly Maxwell; caretakers, Sandy Wilson, Dionna Nievas, Frances and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Her life's journey was a beacon of love and faith, and her memory will forever remain in our hearts.
