Obituary

Louis Lloyd Verra, Jr., 83, of Coatesville, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at his residence. He was affectionately known as "Louie or Lou.”

Born in Buford, SC, Louie was the cherished son of the late Louis L. Verra, Sr. and Willa Mae Smith Verra. He was the husband of Patricia A. Cuff Verra, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.

Louie grew up in New Hampshire and honorably served in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career as a foreman at Lukens Steel.

A man of many interests, Louie was a jokester and very sociable, sharing his wealth of knowledge with others. He was a history buff and stayed up to date with politics. He enjoyed traveling, finding solace and joy in the ocean. His appreciation for the sea extended to his culinary preferences, with seafood, particularly shrimp and lobster, being among his favorites. He also enjoyed fishing, although he never caught much.

Louie's love for music was evident in his fondness for Motown, which filled his home with rhythm and nostalgia. His days were often spent watching television, with a preference for history and travel shows that fed his curiosity.

A father figure to many, Louie's warmth and wisdom left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him. He was a member of the Lily of the Valley Mason Lodge #59, where he fostered lifelong friendships and contributed to his community.

Louie will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Patricia A. Verra of Coatesville; daughters, Theresa "Terri" A. Verra and Michelle E. Verra, both of Coatesville; brother, John V. Verra Sr. (Helen) of Charlotte, NC; nephew, John Verra, Jr.; nieces: Lenore Verra, Vickie Sullivan, Darlene Pounds, and Lee Sullivan, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Sullivan, whose memory he cherished.
