Lorenzo L. Hudson, Sr., 60, of Coatesville, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Coatesville VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Pamela (Ray) Hudson with whom he shared 29 years of marriage.
Born in Avon Park, Florida, he was the son of the late Daniel & Ola Mae Simmons Hudson. He attended school in Seabring, Florida where he was raised by Maggie Hudson along with his grandmother Bertha Williams.
He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War for six years until his honorable discharge in 1972.
He had been employed at Lukens Steel and as a security guard at the Brandywine Hospital for several years.
Lorenzo was a member of Christian Faith Fellowship in Coatesville. He served on the Coatesville Planning Commission and also served as a member of the search committee for Coatesville Police chief.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and would been seen twice a day, walking his pet rottweiler named "trouble" on Lincoln Highway.
He is survived by his wife Pamela Hudson; four sons Lorenzo Hudson, Jr. of Hinesville, Ga., Jay M. Ray of Coatesville, Dana (Sundae) Ray of Virginia, Amir Hudson of Warren, Michigan; one daughter Pamela (Bobby) Fair of Hinesville, Ga.; five brothers Donald Simmons, Daniel (Jean) Hudson, Jr., Timothy Hudson and Kevin Hudson all of Florida, Larry (Michelle) Hudson of Fredrick, MD.; three sisters, Angela (Steve) Alexander of Jacksonville Fla., Janice (Steve) Burton, Teresa Simmons of Wagener, South Carolina; 7 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, August 15, at New Life In Christ Fellowship, 1 S 5th Ave, Coatesville. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m.
Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville on Monday, August 17 at 11:30 a.m.
