Lionell E. Stanton, 88, formerly of Coatesville, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

He was the son of the late James Henry Stanton, Sr. and I. Theresa Pennington Stanton of Coatesville.

He was employed as a crane operator by the former Lukens Steel Co. and Burroughs before retiring.  He served in the Army 82nd Airborne and Merchant Marines.  He was Assistant Scout Master for Troop 32 of Coatesville.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Jones) Stanton of Coatesville; son, Michael Stanton (Tracey) of Oakland CA; brothers, Robert Stanton of Chattanooga, TN, Sherwood Stanton of Coatesville; sister, T. Elizabeth Jones of Kennett Square; one granddaughter Dana and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by three brothers; J. Henry Stanton, Harry Stanton, Frederick Stanton; and one sister, Laura Baker.

A viewing will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Wright Funeral Home, 725 Merchant St, Coatesville.  Interment will be at the Church of Christ Cemetery in Ercildoun.
