Leroy Paul Hill, age 61, of Harrisburg, PA, passed away on February 24, 2022.
Leroy was born in November 1960 in West Chester, PA. He attended Coatesville Area Public Schools. He abided by the code of servanthood during most of his life. He earned his living by helping any willing and who would ask with yard care in the warmer months and snow removal in the winter. He was considered trustworthy and kind by those who knew him. His past time was singing he was easily encouraged to entertain a willing audience. He was also an excellent dancer.
Of great significance to Leroy was family. He actively sought out Hill and Matthews family members to learn their stories and make their acquaintances. His phones were often loaded with pictures of individuals and groups of all ages and walks of life. His innate curiosity about and interest in family extended to people in general. He welcomed the acquaintance of all he encountered and championed inclusion before the concept became popular.
Leroy is survived by two daughters: Jessica Hill Wiley of Steelton, PA and Shania Winkey Hill of Coatesville, PA; an aunt: Betty Ringgold of West Chester, PA; three biological sisters: Doris McKim Hill of Brookhaven, PA, Gloria Jean Luckett of Harvey, IL, and Frances Hill Lawson (Gregory) of Darby, PA; a foster brother: Charles Timothy Matthews, Sr. (Jennifer); a foster sister and biological niece: NormaJean Hill Zarecki (Michael); and several grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Leroy is preceded in death by his biological parents: Eugene Wilson and Margaret 'Peggy' Hill of West Chester, PA; biological siblings: Claude the Campbell of Chester, PA; Mary Madeline Hill of West Chester, PA; Earl Wayne Dickerson of Avondale, PA; and Eugene Wilson Hill of Los Angeles, CA; his foster parents: Charles Agustus and Bernice Pinnick Matthews; and a foster sister: Charlotte Matthews Spriggs of Hartford, CT.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Second Baptist Worship Center, 857 Lumber Street, Coatesville, PA.
