IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leonard D.
"Jr" Morris, Jr.
August 1, 1985 – March 3, 2023
Leonard Dwayne Morris, Jr. of Coatesville, PA, went home to be with the Lord, late Friday evening, March 3, 2023, at his residence. Leonard was 37 years old.
Born on August 1, 1985, at the Christiana Hospital in Delaware, he was the oldest of three boys born to Leonard P. Morris, Sr. and Joy Lynn Morris. He was affectionately known as Leo, Lil' Leonard, or JR by his family.
Leonard received his early education in the Coatesville Area School District and was a graduate of the Child Development Center in Coatesville. After graduation, he received nurse's aide training at the Pittsburg Job Corps Center.
Leonard worked for a short time at Wendy's in Thorndale. He also worked at the Barkley Friends Nursing home in West Chester, PA.
In his youth, Leonard was a member of the Church of Deliverance in Downingtown under the late Bishop Clarence Pooler and the late Evangelist Annabelle Williams who was also Leonard's grandmother. When he was 5 years old, Leonard would go to his grandmoms home to play (making noise) on her piano. At age of 7 years old, he was able to play by ear while she sang. He later began to play for the church, the church choir, and at funeral services.
Leonard moved from Coatesville to Reading, PA, where he became a member of the St. James Chapel COGIC. There he played the organ and was instrumental in helping drive the van to bring members to church and church events. While in Reading he worked as a CNA at the Spruce Manor Nursing Home.
After moving back to Coatesville, he became a faithful member of Judah Ministries COGIC under Pastor Montez O. Jones. He served as the church organist for many years until his passing. In addition to playing at Judah Ministries, Leonard played at the Church of Deliverance in Downingtown, Bell's Chapel True Holiness Church in Coatesville, First Apostle FBH also in Coatesville, the Ministers Alliance choir, and many other churches and ministries throughout the area.
Leonard was known to be a strong-willed, dedicated person who loved to laugh and joke. He enjoyed skiing, rollerblading, ice skating, and playing board games. He was a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Most of all, he loved the Lord.
He is survived by his parents, Leonard, Sr. and Joy Morris; two brothers, Steven A. Morris and Darren L. Morris; friend, Velonte Haskins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, church family and friends.
Leonard's laughter and warm smile will be deeply missed.
Sorrowfully Submitted, The Family
