Kayla Scott-Araus, a bright and courageous soul left us on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia after bravely fighting an illness.

At just 11 years old, Kayla touched the lives of many with her remarkable strength and wisdom that surpassed her years. Her love shone brightly, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Kayla was cherished as a beloved daughter, the eldest sister, and the first grandchild in the Northan family. She was affectionately known as "Kay-Kay".

A fifth-grade student at Avongrove Charter School, she had a passion for creativity, enjoying drawing, coloring, painting, dancing, TikTok, and swimming. Kayla's vibrant spirit was reflected in her love for bright colors like pink and purple, as well as her fascination with rainbows, glittery things, and unicorns.

Kayla is survived by her parents, Shamill Northan and Andre Ochoa; father, Carnell Scott-Araus; sister, Brooklyn Ochoa; brothers: Nasir Colon, Kyrie Colon, Noel Colon, Bryson Ochoa; maternal mother, Shamill D. Northan; maternal great grandparents, Diane Northan and Bruce Brown; aunts, Jamiah Scott, Tahjae Pewell; one of her best friends, cousin Nyla Jackson and many relatives and friends.

She is predeceased by her maternal grandfather William Redd.

Her joyful presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives.

The family is grateful to all who have and are contributing toward Kayla's funeral expenses.

A viewing will be held at 3:00 pm followed by a service at 3:30 PM on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Wright Funeral Services, 725 Merchant Street, Coatesville, PA 19320.
