Obituary

Joy Francine Fields (nee Trowery) passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 in Harrisburg PA. Born on Friday, July 22, 1960 in Coatesville, PA, Joy was the daughter of Barbara Clark Marshall and the late Herbert Trowery.

She and Wendell Marley Fields aka "Teon" were united in marriage, September 1995 and on Flag Day, June 14, 2001, they became the proud parents of their son, Johnathan Sinclair Fields.

She attended schools in Coatesville and Los Angeles, CA. From a very early age, Joy enjoyed singing and acting and participated in music and drama clubs.  In addition, she was active in youth clubs including the NAACP Junior Youth Group.

Joy was employed by the Devereux Foundation for more than 20 years.

She enjoyed helping and gave good advice which resulted in her becoming a mentor to young women. She had a way of making everyone feel like they were "the only one in the room".

Joy was a "true blue boob-tuber" and movie buff.  She loved pitbull terriers and had a tender spot for all animals.  Joy was a free spirit who has left a treasure trove of fond memories from the East Coast to the West Coast.  She formed extended families wherever she went and never passed up the opportunity to express her adoration for her "family by marriage".

Joy leaves to mourn her loss, her mother, Barbara Marshall of Coatesville; sons, Johnathan Fields of Harrisburg, PA and Dr. Corey Fields, Coatesville; daughter, Monica Holmes of Sicklerville, NJ; siblings, Laura Trowery, Coatesville PA, Pamela Jackson-Bass, Burlington, NJ, Kelly Westmoreland of Coatesville, Karen Jackson of Thorndale PA; mother-in-law, Alsenia Fields of Coatesville; sister-in-law, Sheila Fields of Coatesville.

Joy also leaves a host of very special family members and friends including her 'Reading Cousins', and longtime friends Renee Montgomery, Atlanta, GA and Harvey Ellison, Coatesville, PA; God-daughter Starr, San Diego, CA and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Wendell Fields; father, Herbert Trowery; grandparents James and Louise Clark Morris and Joseph and Goldie Mullen Trowery Alston; and sisters, Carmen Trowery and Michelle Stern.

Mondays Child

Monday's child is fair of face, Tuesday's child is full of grace. Wednesday's child is full of woe, Thursday's child has far to go, Friday's child is loving and giving, Saturday's child works hard for a living, And the child that is born on the Sabbath day Is lucky and wise and good and gay.

Joy was born on a Friday and she was "Friday's Child" - loving and giving.
