Johnnie Theron Stevens, 81, of Coatesville, formerly of Phoenixville, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Brandywine Hall in West Chester.
Born in Liberty County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Jeanette Hendry-Greene and Jessie A. Stevens. Johnnie was raised by his grandparents Hattie and Douse Hendry.
Johnnie enjoyed watching cowboy movies and major league baseball.
He is survived by two sons Johnnie T. Stevens, Jr. of South Phoenix, Arizona, James Brian Stevens of Coatesville; one daughter, Marie (Lawrence) Johnson of Downingtown; two brothers, Benjamin (Annie) Elliott of Downingtown, Albert (June) Elliott of Coatesville; one sister, Joyce (Bobby) Hawkins of Detroit, Michigan;10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Dwayne Stevens and one sister, Mary Walker.
A memorial service will be held at 5 pm on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Holy Tabernacle COGIC, 533 Coates Street, Coatesville. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 4 to 5 pm. There will be no public viewing. Flowers can be sent to the church on the day of the service. The theme color is red and white. Condolence for the service can be emailed or faxed to the funeral home by Friday 9 pm.
