Obituary

John L. Twyman, Jr. was born May 22, 1919 in New London, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late John L. Twyman, Sr. and Blanche Bernice Peterson Twyman.

He was affectionately known as "Buddy", "Slick", or "Sugarbowl" by his family and friends.   Buddy was the husband of Rachael Rochester Twyman.

A World War II veteran, Buddy served in the U.S. Navy. until he was honorably discharged.  Over the years, he had been employed at Brown's Express Freight, P. A. Lafferty Mushroom and McCloud's Motor Company in Oxford until he retired.

Buddy was a hard working and friendly gentleman. He enjoyed working on cars, dancing and playing dice. Years ago he tragically lost his wife and thirteen children in a fire. He was a man of incredible strength continuing to live on, in spite of his circumstances.

Buddy passed away at age 93, Friday, September 21, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Coatesville. He was preceded in death by one brother Tommy Twyman and four sisters, Alice Milbourne, Elsie Henderson, Mildred Stewart and Mary Kinslow.

He leaves his wife Rachael Twyman of New Castle; four daughters, Carolyn Twyman of West Chester, Rebecca (Maurice) Miller of Lancaster, Rose (Mack Maxwell) Twyman of New Castle, Tonia (Shawn Comfort) Twyman of Reading; five sons, John Twyman and Calvin (Lisa) Twyman both of Lancaster, Alan Twyman of Reading , Vance (Doris) Stewart of Wilmington; four brothers,  Herchell Twyman, Leonard Twyman, Earl Twyman, Ronald Twyman; 32 grandchildren;  51 great grandchildren, 28 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
