Character and Hobbies

In his youth, John developed mechanical skills under his father's guidance and shared them with his brothers and sons. He had a determination to complete any project he worked on, and if you interrupted his concentration, you would sure enough know about it. His love of cooking and feeding others came from assisting both parents in the kitchen. He could make a meal from anything, and it was always delicious. When you came to the Old Man's house, there was always a meal on the stove, piling your plate up, and you were full when you left because you couldn't get up until it was gone. John didn't just cook- he prepared a meal with love, and watching others eat brought him joy. Food was his language, nourishing his soul.

He took pride in his appearance with a deep appreciation for fashion and hygiene (cologne). He found joy in watching boxing as we knew him for his quick fists- quicker comeback, and never walking away from a challenge. He had a love for music (jazz, R&B, gospel, and country), gambling (cards), visiting the casino, grocery shopping- were the employs knew who he was on a first name bases, and reflecting on the "good old days" in which he shared stories with his family and of course we all know he was quite a ladies man.

John was a strong, firm, and affectionate man—a protector with a deep love for those he held close at heart. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
