IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John O.
Johnson
July 19, 1938 – August 19, 2022
In the midnight hour on Friday, August 19, 2022, GOD dispatched his angels to summon our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, John O. Johnson. GOD granted him 84 years to tabernacle here among us.
On July 19, 1938, John O. Johnson was born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania to the late Albert "Busty" Johnson and Alice Curry Johnson. John was the 5th of eight (8) siblings, and he was a very caring brother.
He attended the Coatesville Area School District. He worked at the Old Coatesville Hospital, and at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) until retirement. John was a member of the Hutchinson Memorial UAME Church. He also worked for Wright Funeral Home and Brickus Funeral Home in Coatesville, PA and DeBaptiste Funeral Home in West Chester, PA.
He gave his life to Christ 50 years ago at First Baptist Church of Passtown. He believed in giving back to the community, so he served on the Usher Board; he really enjoyed life and was always happy and ready to work; so, he began detailing cars which was his passion. If you ever saw John out and about, he was sure to ask you "Do you know Jesus Christ?"
John loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed riding all around Coatesville; he also enjoyed cutting grass. He played baseball in Berwyn, PA, and Delaware where he was considered one of the best pitchers in the league. And finally, John was always dressed fashionably "dapper" in the finest suits, shoes, and hats to match.
His loving family consists of four children, Laurie Nelson (Michael), John O. Johnson, Jr. (Carolyn), Pamela Johnson (Ernest), Donald Johnson (Patrice); siblings, Faye Melvin, Paul Johnson, Catherine Johnson; grandchildren: Shante Nelson, Sarah, Myeisha Nelson, Ian Binkley, Jasmine Johnson, Ashley Ferrari, Justin Johnson; great-granddaughter: Onya Johnson; the love of his life: Terri Nixon; God-Daughter: Chalea Melvin; He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his 2 brothers Arthur Curry and Donald Johnson, and his 2 sisters, Cora Johnson Norman, and Laura Johnson Griffy.
