John Albert Johnson, 76, of Coatesville, PA passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023, surrounded by his family at home.

Born in Orangeburg, South Carolina, John was the son of the late Mozell Johnson and the husband of Doris Arlene Johnson with whom he shared 18 1/2 years of marriage.

A veteran, he served two years in the U.S. Navy until he was Honorably discharged.

John worked as a dietitian at the Coatesville VA Medical Center for many years until he retired.

He enjoyed watching Westerns, especially Cheyenne, and watching sports. He enjoyed following current events by watching the news and reading the newspaper. He was a lead guitar player who enjoyed music and dancing. He liked motorcycles and Jeeps.

His wife Doris brought great joy to his life. They were like 'two peas in a pod' and like 'hands and gloves'.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Johnson of Coatesville; son, Khali Johnson of Coatesville; brother, Howard Johnson of New Jersey; stepsons, Orlando Moore and daughter-in-law Mary Moore of Oxford, PA, Arnold Moore of Florida; stepdaughter, Corrine Moore of Philadelphia; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Laverne Denise Johnson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Wright Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc, 725 Merchant St., Coatesville. His viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM.

Interment with Naval military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA.
