Jessie Mae Grove, of Coatesville, PA, passed away late Saturday evening, June 20, 2026, at the Parkhouse Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Royersford, PA. She was 64 years old.
A lifelong resident of Coatesville, she was born on October 6, 1961, to the late Israel Grove and Jessie Bell Grove.
Jessie was raised in the Coatesville area and was a 1979 graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Port Deposit, Maryland, where she lived out her strong faith and deep commitment to community.
Professionally, Jessie served as a Nurse's Assistant at Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. She carried out her work with care, diligence, and a genuine concern for those she served, reflecting the same compassion she showed in her family and church life.
Jessie was a strong woman of faith with a fighting spirit and a giving heart. She loved anyone she called family and was known for her joy in singing, dancing, and celebrating life. Often the center of attention, Jessie had a great sense of humor and a laugh that could set the whole room laughing. She was orderly, direct, and a “straight shooter” when it came to guiding others, yet she tempered that with warmth and generosity.
Jessie was a wonderful cook and loved hosting gatherings for family and friends, creating a home filled with food, music, and love. She overcame many trials and tribulations throughout her life and turned her experiences into strength and power for herself and those around her.
Jessie is survived by her children, Reverend Reggie Samuel Grove Swan, George Wayne Parks Jr., Channelle R. Parks-Washington; sisters, Marcella Elizabeth Dixion, Diana D. Grove; brother, Israel Grove Jr.; her beloved nephews, Andre Richard Miller, Vernon Keith Miller; nieces, Mary Grove, Elizabeth Grove; 10 grandchildren: Dominique R. Saunders, Tylee T. Alston, Tyler Alston, Aquilat Nekaybaw Bradley, Isiah Day, Ausar Haru Bradley, Aset H. Caldwell, Azzahryah Hargrove Parks, Hawaah C. Swan, Olivia Swan; foster daughter, Tanisha Winkey, and Tanisha’s family, whom she held close as her own and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, Israel Grove and Jessie Bell Grove; her children’s fathers, Louis Edward Nearo and George Wayne Parks Sr.; and other relatives.
Jessie Mae Grove will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her faith, strength, humor, and love for family will continue to inspire those who walk in her memory.
A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at New Evergreen Cemetery in the Hayti section of Coatesville.
