Obituary

On Sunday, November 17, 2024, surrounded by her family, Ms. Jennie Pearl (Jacks) Morton, went home to be with the Lord. She was 95 years old.

Jennie was born in Coatesville she was the 6th of twelve children born to the late Louis Jacks and Janie Pearl Sims Jacks.  She was the beloved wife of the late Albert A. "Bubble" Morton, Jr. with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.

Jennie received her early education from the Coatesville area public school system. She attended the Historic James Adams School and was a 1947 graduate of S. Horace Scott Senior High School.

While raising a family, she worked for a short period of time at Coatesville VAMC and as a charge aide at Embreeville State Hospital for 25 years. She also worked at Heatherwood and St. Joseph's House after retirement.

She enjoyed bird watching, coloring, crossword puzzles, painting, drawing, crocheting, knitting, and sewing. Most of all she enjoyed studying the Bible. Her favorite poem was, "I, Too" by Langston Hughes.

Jennie was a former member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and had been a member of New Life In Christ Fellowship for 44 years. Over the years, she served as a Vacation Bible School teacher, Sunday School teacher, and Deaconess. She became a  Biblical Counselor at the age of 70.

She touched the lives of so many by giving selflessly. She truly believed in being of service and instilled that value in her family.
