IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jahmir Semaj
Pennington
April 22, 2009 – October 29, 2025
On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Jahmir Semaj Pennington of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, passed away at Paoli Hospital at the tender age of sixteen.
Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Jahmir was the beloved son of Shakira London and Christopher Morgan, as well as Michael Tilghman, who helped raise him, all of Coatesville. He was affectionately known as "Mir," "Mir-Mir," and "Firecracker" by his family and friends for his bright spirit and joyful energy.
Jahmir attended Coatesville Area Senior High School, where he was an 11th-grade student and had recently expressed his interest in joining the U.S. Army.
A young man full of life and curiosity, Jahmir loved fishing, playing video games, and riding his dirt bike. He also enjoyed working at Urban Air, proud to have his own job and his own money to spend.
Jahmir loved the babies in the family; they were naturally drawn to him. He could soothe them to sleep, make them laugh, and seemed to have a special peace about him that they sensed. His playful nature, silly jokes, and easy laughter made him a joy to be around. Cats and dogs weren't his choice of pets; Jahmir preferred something a little more daring. He kept tarantulas and a pet snake named Slim, showing his fearless and adventurous side. Fishing was his quiet place-his peace, where he often went alone to think. He really was a kid who just enjoyed the simple things in life.
Jahmir is survived by his mother, Shakira (Dashawn) London; father, Christopher Morgan; and siblings Mionnie and Michael Tilghman, Daymare Leach, Christopher "CJ" Morgan, Trinity Hopkins, and Classyc Woodward. He also leaves behind his niece, Hazel, of Coatesville; uncles Vashawn Nixon of Lancaster, Edward "Edd" Oliver, and Jaquez "TK" Taggart of Coatesville; and aunts Jada Taggart, Saaleha, Shadai, and Nakaila Johnson, Shanice and Shantell Folks, Aaliyah, Alexis, and Azariah Morgan all of Coatesville, who cherished him deeply. Edd's girlfriend, Jennifer Carter, was very special to Jahmir, as well.
He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Lakisha Pennington of Coatesville, Nolan Johnson of Baltimore, Maryland, and Joseph Taylor of Wilmington, Delaware; and paternal grandparents, Stacy Morgan and Herman Duncan of Coatesville.
Jahmir was predeceased by his great great-grandmothers, Nancy Butcher, and Martha and Maggie Pennington; great-grandmother, Ruthann Allen; aunt, Kylee Carrol, and uncles Chad "Tre" and Jahleel "Pee" Tyson.
Jahmir will be remembered for his kind heart, love for family, and the light he brought into every room. His laughter, warmth, and peaceful spirit will live forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
A Life Celebration Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Bell Chapel True Holiness Church, 132 Modena Road, Coatesville, PA. A viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM.
He will be buried in the Church of Christ Cemetery in Ercildoun, PA
