Irene Annette Singleton, 66, of Coatesville, PA passed away surrounded by her friends and family on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Chester County Hospital, in West Chester, PA.

Irene was born in Coatesville and was the 2nd of 5 children born to Lue Bertha Hendry and the late Luther Singleton.

Irene was a 1976 graduate of Downingtown Area Senior High School, after that, she attended Goldie Beacom College.

For many years, Irene worked as an Administrative Assistant at AmeriGas. She also was a counselor at Devereux.

Irene was a caring person, who was loving, funny, and a sweet soul who would light up any room she entered.  She was dedicated to her nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and she considered them her own children.  She gave her life to the Lord and had a genuine spirit that motivated others within her community and would always lend a helping hand.   She was passionate about cooking and insisted on fixing meals for her family and friends whenever possible. Irene had a passion for fashion, assisting with family celebrations. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her companion Etienne Randolph and long-time friends, Marge Norton and Karen Smith.

In addition to her father, Luther, Singleton, Irene was preceded in death by her brother, Marvin Singleton; her stepfather, Leo Hendry and stepmother, Margret Singleton; stepsister, Iris Taltoan, and nephew, Jalal Fleming.

Irene will be deeply missed by her mother, Lue Bertha Hendry; her siblings: Rev. Earl Singleton (Deborah), David Singleton, Sr. (Lila), Elisa Singleton and Rodney Hendry, Loretta Waller and Dennis Waller; nieces and nephews: Alicia Singleton, David Singleton, Jr. (Claudia), Jade Parker (Melvin), Cheyenne Singleton, Jonnè Washington, Nova Seneriez (Nick), Rodney Brown and Erika Hendry; uncle, Leroy Preston; aunt, Mattie Bell Singleton and a host of cousins, step nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Historic Hutchinson Memorial UAME Church, 825 East Chestnut Street, Coatesville, PA 19320. A public viewing will be held from 9:00 AM – 10:45 AM.

The interment will be held in New Evergreen Cemetery in Coatesville.
