Iona McGibboney Twyman, 93, of Coatesville, PA, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022, at her residence.

A lifelong resident of Coatesville, Iona was the daughter of the late Ruffing and Blanche McGibboney.  She was the wife of the late Ernest Twyman.

Iona was employed as a nurse's aide at the Coatesville VA Hospital for 15 years.

Iona loved reading, sewing, and cooking.  She read all types of novels.  The family loved everything she cooked. She also loved to travel. Most of all, she loved raising children. She was known for taking care of children who lived on Coates Street for many years. She was also a member of Eureka Chapter #12 Order of Eastern Star Inc. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

She is survived by children, Suzette Twyman, Freddia "Lady Bug" Twyman, Bertha Hardy Alston all of Coatesville, Ernest Twyman Jr., Dover Delaware, Gloria Twyman and Carol Ann Corporal Jacks both of Coatesville; sister, Joan Henry of Pottstown; Ernest Twyman Jr. o several nieces and nephews that she helped raise; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren. great-great-grandchildren, cousins, as well as a lifelong friend, Barbara Taylor.

In addition to her parents, Iona was preceded in death by her children: Dorothy Twyman, Irene Twyman Peoples, Larry McGibboney (husband of Egeria McGibboney), Tillman Twyman, and many siblings.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 4, 2022, at New Hope Glad Tidings Church of God, 80 Foundry Street, Coatesville, PA. A walk thru visitation will begin at 10:30 AM.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the memorial service will be held privately with limited seating for only the immediate family and invited guests.
