IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen June
(Harkins) Yost
May 23, 1937 – October 5, 2017
Helen June Harkins Yost, 80, of Gordonville, PA, surrounded by her children, passed away Thursday, October 5th, in her beloved home. Born in Coatesville, PA on May 23, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Carlton Shank and June Isabelle (Rogers) Harkins.
She is survived by her sister, Mabel Alice Halsey, and brother, David Anthony Harkins, of Coatesville PA; her older brother, Carlton (Buddy) Harkins recently passed. Helen was a loving mother to her six children: Deborah Lou Neal, of Old Hickory, TN; Sharon L. Williams of Gordonville, PA; Patricia Lynn Stone of New Bern, NC; Theresa A May of Aurora, CO; Patrick Anthony Bradley of Sadsburyville, PA; and daughter Helen, who went with the angels shortly after her birth. Helen will also be missed by her many family members, having 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She mourned the loss of two of her great grandchildren, Nathan Alexander Griffin and Jeremy Blake May.
Helen's life was full. Having to care for her children, she found the energy to be one of the first of the family to obtain a nursing licensure and worked in this field for over 15 years and gained many friends through her employment at Pepperidge Farm for 10 years.
Our mother loved reading the scriptures, worshipping with hymns and raising her hands in praise. She was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association and loved to ride on the back seat of a motorcycle. She filled our home with music and dances from the 50's and 60's and was always there to offer comfort when needed. Gardening and yard care in the sun were her favorite work activities.
We will celebrate her life with dance and her favorite music in May 2018, at her son's home, we will post details on this website at a later date.
