Helen Virginia Burch, 96, of Coatesville, PA, passed away Tuesday August 1, 2017 at Pembroke Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Chester, PA, where she had resided for the past 10 years.

Born in Norfolk, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Annie Harvey.  She was the wife of the late James L. "Cabbage" Burch Sr., with whom she shared sixty-six years of marriage.

Helen had worked in a Powder Plant on the assembly line for a while until there was a bad explosion at the plant. Many who worked there lost their lives but she survived.  She also worked for the the Devereux Foundation.

She will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker who cooked and took great care of her family even with the loss of her one arm as a result the Powder Plant explosion.

Helen is survived by her one son; Ronald Burch, Sr., and his wife Marilyn, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Helen was preceded in death by one son James L. Burch, Jr.

No services are planned. Interment will be private.
