Harriet Lee Holmes Tibbs

Harriet was born on January 29, 1944, to the late Robert and Frances Thompson Holmes in Lignum, VA. She graduated from Coatesville Area Senior High School in 1971 and received her License Practical Nurse (LPN) in 1974.

In addition to her parents, Harriet is preceded in death by her brothers, George, Robert Jr., Andrew, Randle Sr., Stanley, and Charles; her sisters Mary Frances and Irene Campbell.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her loving husband of 65 years, Theodore Tibbs; her twin daughters Angelice, Angela, and twins Alex and Allison and nephew/-son Wendell; brothers, Daniel Holmes and Ollie Holmes (Helen) of Lignum, VA, and Sally Holmes of Coatesville, PA. She is also survived by her beloved granddaughters, Tracina, Chanel, and Tiffany along with many other relatives, loved ones, and friends who will forever keep her memory close to heart.

Harriet will be remembered for her quick wit, remarkable patience, warm and outgoing personality, and caring nature. Family was especially important to her, and she treasured the times when loved ones gathered together. She had a way of making people feel welcomed, cared for, and loved.

Her radiant smile, calming presence, generous spirit, and genuine love for others touched the lives of everyone she met. Harriet's unwavering faith sustained her throughout her life and was reflected in the way she cared for those around her.

Although her presence will be deeply missed, the love Harriet gave so freely will remain with her family and all who were blessed to know her. Her legacy of faith, family, love, and kindness will continue to live on for generations to come.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 31, 2026 at Culpeper Baptist Church, 3131 South West Street, Culpepper, VA 22701. A viewing will be held at 10:00 AM.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Memorial Park, 10127 Plank Road, Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia 22553
