Hunter, Sr.

Harlan Hugh Hunter Sr., 83, of Wilmington, Delaware, entered eternal rest on February 17, 2025.
He was born on December 14, 1941, in Lima, Pennsylvania, to the late Carl L. Crampton Jr. and the late Helen Parker (née Hunter). Harlan was the beloved grandson of Rose Hunter and Leon Garnett, spending much of his formative years under their loving care. Raised in a large, blended family, Harlan was welcomed with great love by his stepparents, Harold "Hike" Parker and Vernita "Miss Arlee" Crampton. As the eldest of eight siblings, he embraced his role with warmth and responsibility. He is preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Crampton, and his sister, Vernette Crampton.
Harlan was deeply loved and fully embraced by his family, friends, and neighbors. He leaves behind cherished memories for his loving wife, Sondra L. Hunter; his children: Harlan H. Hunter Jr. (Verneda), Lisa Mitchell, and Jennifer Hunter Clark; his grandchildren: Harlan III, Stephanie, Kayla, Andre, Eva Rose, Cory, Tyler, Christian, and Joshua; and his great-grandchildren: Javian, Jahri, and Alirah. He is also survived by his siblings: Aulana Mercado, Harold Parker Jr., Julia Coleman, Carol Bladen, and Caroline Carroll; his goddaughters: Cierra Mercado and Parker May Lynn; and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends
A viewing will be held from 8:00 AM to 9:45 AM, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Saint Paul UAME Church, 3114 North Market Street, Wilmington, Delaware. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM.
Interment will be held in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery Annex, 1041 Pottstown Pike, West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Condolences to be read should be faxed to 610-383-7523 or emailed to wrightfuneralsvs@aol.com to the funeral home by Thursday, February 27th, 4 PM.
