Genease A. Brown, "Neicey", 57, of Reading, PA passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at the Reading Hospital – Tower Health, West Reading, PA in Berks County.
Genease was a lifelong resident of Reading. Born on June 26, 1963, she was the daughter of the late Genease B. Ruffin and Andrew Jackson Ruffin. She was also the daughter of the late Betty L. Isaac.
She received her early education from the Reading public school system. She graduated from Reading High School in 1981.
She was employed as a Certified Nurse Aide for 20 years. Over the years she worked at the Berks Heim, Community General Hospital, Manor Care-Buttonwood Street, and the Mifflin Center, Planned Parenthood, Spruce Manor, and Wyomissing Lodge.
She volunteered at the 50 plus club in St. John Baptist Church, the American Red Cross, and as a Candy Striper in St. Joseph's Hospital, all in Reading. She was also a longtime member of Mary Alice Temple #108, Berks Lodge #47 Elks IBPOEofW. She attended Washington Presbyterian Church.
Genease was a dog lover. She enjoyed traveling and singing. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter Gianni and her fur babies Dinero and Hades.
Genease leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter, Keysha Ruffin (Rick Clay); one brother, Rodney Isaac; and sisters, Rochelle Isaac (James D. Profic), Saundra Lopes, all of Reading, Betty (Leonard) Bainbridge of Shillington; one granddaughter, Gianni Teel; two nieces, Shatia Linton and Keyana Profic; three nephews: Jamaris Profic, Alundus Isaac, and Jarren Isaac; Godchildren: Charmaine Lopes, Jameel Bainbridge, and I'Mieal Jackson. She is also survived by two aunts, Jessie Garvin, and Agnes Medcalf (Victor); a special aunt, Viola Jefferson; two uncles, Carl Isaac and Thomas Isaac, Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Tracy C. McClary, one son, Andre M. Ruffin, and one aunt, Drucilla Flowers.
Life Celebration Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 18, 2021, at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 601 N. Front St., Reading, PA. A viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM followed by a Thanatopsis ritualistic service from 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM.
Interment will be in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, PA.
Flowers may be sent to the church on the day of the service. The theme colors are pink and white.
