*******
On Friday, April 28, 2023, Frankie Roosevelt Anthony, of Coatesville, PA, passed away unexpectedly at his residence. He was 66 years old.
Born in Cowen, West Virginia, he was the son of John Anthony and Inez (Washington) Anthony. Frankie was the husband of Gloria Alston. Frankie was known as "Legend" by his family and friends.
After graduating from Glass High School in Lynchburg, Virginia, Frankie joined the United States Army. During his military service he was awarded medals for his valiant efforts in telecommunications and marksmanship. He faithfully served two years until he was honorably discharged.
After returning to civilian life, he relocated from Richmond, VA to Coatesville PA. He worked at the Coatesville Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center for many years.
As a youth, Frankie was a very joyful young man. As a young boy he would sing along with his mom and siblings without any cares, only happiness in being with family and praising our heavenly Father.
He loved nice cars and was a Philadelphia Eagles fan. The family has memories of him driving a Cadillac and a Lexus. Frankie was a jack of all trades. He was also a good cook. When the family was expected to visit him and Gloria, Frankie would prepare a special dinner.
He was a devoted friend and brother, uncle, cousin, husband and friend. What he had, he shared. He gave like Santa Claus to his family and spent time. When he was quiet in words, he was stellular in presence. When he was present such joy and love engulfed us all. His last vision was to return to Virginia. He fondly spoke of his wife, Gee and was appreciative of their union. Frankie had a special connection with everyone who knew him, it was like love and friendship never ran out.
In addition to his parents, John and Inez, Frankie was predeceased by two sisters, Maggie "Helen" Anthony and Veda Scott; two brothers, John Anthony, Jr. and Ornnie Anthony.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Alston of Coatesville, PA; brother, James Anthony (Tina) of Pennsylvania; sister, Jackie Jones (Herman) of Virginia; special friends: Doris, Evelyn, Rachel, Esau and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends both in PA and in the VA community.
A memorial service in honor of Frankie will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 6th, 2023, at Wright Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 725 Merchant St., Coatesville.
