Eugene R. Garner, Sr., 77 of Coatesville passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Paoli Memorial Hospital.  He was the beloved husband of Ivanell Stewart Garner with whom he shared 37 years of marriage.

Born in West Chester, PA. he was the son of the late Joseph and Alberta Johnson Garner.

Eugene was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War.   Chrysler Corporation employed him for 38 years as an internal auditor until his retirement in 2006.  Then, he contracted with the company for the next four years.  Upon retirement, he worked for a brief period as a security guard with CTDI in Coatesville.

"Bob", as family and friends affectionately knew him, was a member of New Beginnings Fellowship, Downingtown, PA. He played minor league baseball for the Reading Phillies. Bob also enjoyed traveling, watching game shows, and listening to music, especially Otis Redding.  He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.  But what he enjoyed most was attending church worship services and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by three children, Eugene R. Garner Jr. of Newark Delaware, Kevin E. Garner of Exton and Charmaine D. Smith of Downingtown; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; one sibling; Betty Warren of West Grove, PA., special friends; Daniel London and Harvey Ellison of Coatesville and Ronald Butler of Michigan and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

In addition to his parents, Eugene is predeceased by a stepson, James Smith, Jr.; brothers, Joseph Garner, Jr., and Vernon Garner, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Second Baptist Church, 857 Lumber Street, Coatesville, PA followed by interment in Union Cemetery, Kennett Square, PA.

Interment with military honors will be held in Union Hill Cemetery in Kennett Square.
