Esther Lillian Harvey passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on March 14, 1936, in Downingtown, PA, Esther was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas Flowers, Sr., and Nettie Thomas Flowers.
Esther was a 1954 graduate of Downingtown High School. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Trinity for many years.
Esther was known for her love of walking. She was often seen strolling through the neighborhood. She said it relaxed her and helped clear her head. She was also an avid reader and lover of music.
Esther was the widow of Maitland Harvey, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. Her dedication to her family was unwavering, and she took immense pride in her roles as a mother, grandmother, and sister.
She is survived by her two sons, Andre' M. Harvey (Carla) and Dana J. Harvey; siblings, Dorothy "Dottie" Johnson, Jacqueline Hunt, and Gordy Flowers (Sheena); grandchildren, Brian J. Harvey (Laura), Aja M. Harvey-Gaffney (Nicholas) and Aaron J. Harvey; great-grandchildren, Aviana Skye Harvey, Ariyah Rose Harvey, Natsumi Okoye Gaffney and Antonio Maitland Gaffney; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Maitland L. Harvey; siblings: Rebecca Butcher, Nettie Brown, Maryann Flowers, Edna Flowers, Barbara Westmoreland, Ruth Ann Miller, William Flowers, Joseph Flowers, Thomas W. Flowers, Jr., Clarence Flowers, the triplets Harold, Henry, and Howard Flowers, and David Flowers.
Esther’s memory will remain in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11 AM, on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the Episcopal Church of the Trinity, 323 East Lincoln Hwy, Coatesville. A viewing will be held from 9 AM until 10:45 AM.
Interment will be held in the Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer, PA.
