IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Emma Louise
(Westmoreland) Brazzle
March 17, 1934 – February 7, 2026
Emma Louise Brazzle, "Mickie", 91 of Coatesville, transitioned to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 07, 2026, at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, PA.
Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late John A. Westmoreland and Gladys Collins Westmoreland. She was preceded in death by her late husband Emanuel Brazzle "Manny". Emma was educated in the Downingtown and Coatesville public school system. She spent her formative years in the close-knit community of Spruces. After marriage, she moved to Brandywine Homes in Caln Township.
Emma retired from the Coatesville VA Hospital, where she received numerous awards of recognition for her dedicated service. After a brief retirement, Emma regained employment at the Freedom Village Retirement Community as a dietary aide.
Emma was a lifelong member of the Bernardtown Baptist Church, where she served on various committees and auxiliaries. She was known for hosting bus trips to New York City for shopping or to see a Broadway play. Her infamous potato salad was a requested favorite at all family gatherings. She enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping, and performing acts of kindness such as sending greeting cards thoughtfully selected to brighten someone's day.
Emma was also a member of the Red Hatters Women's Auxiliary, where she enjoyed the fellowship with women united in purpose.
She often shared her keen memory of her childhood years, painting a picture of a rich and robust history of family and friends rooted in the "village" mindset that "I am my brother's keeper", which was demonstrated in the way she lived her life.
Emma was predeceased by her brothers, John, James and William Westmoreland; sister, Ann Artis; and father, Fred Shields.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jeanette L. Anderson (spouse, Stanley, deceased), Genevieve White (spouse, Milford), 4 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sister, Lauretta Beckett; sister-in-law, Helen, Westmoreland; brothers, Morris, Robert and Rick Shields of Scotland Neck, NC, a special friend, Evelyn Butler and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 11 AM, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Bernardtown, 1208 Youngsburg Road, Coatesville. A viewing will be held from 10 AM until 10:45 AM.
