Elsie Truth (Woodward) Alder, 77, of West Grove, formerly of Coatesville, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019 at home.

Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Kersey Martin Woodward, Sr. and Laura Rachael (Mullen) Woodward.  Elsie was the beloved wife of William Alder with whom she shared 8 years of marriage.

She received her early education from the historical James Adams School in Coatesville, PA.

Elsie was a member of the former Mount Olivet Church, now named Holy Dove Fellowship in Coatesville, PA. She was a member of the usher board and she sang in the choir.

Elsie enjoyed singing, dancing, doing crossword puzzles and listening to gospel music. She also enjoyed spending time with her family especially the young children.

In addition to her husband William, she is survived by, two brothers, Clayton B. (Barbara) Woodward, Sr., William Lee (Anna) Woodward, Sr.; one sister, Elva Woodward Griffin; sister-in-law, Ann Woodward, all of Coatesville, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Elsie was preceded in death by three brothers: Kersey Martin Woodward, Jr., Leonard Woodward, John H. Woodward, Sr, and one sister, Catherine Woodward King.

Services will be held 11 am Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Holy Dove Fellowship Church, 947 West Main Street, Coatesville, PA. Friends are invited to a viewing beginning at 9 am.

Interment will be held privately.
