Obituary

Pastor Ronald S. Parr, Pastor of Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Coatesville, PA was ordained in Philadelphia, PA under the leadership of the Late Bishop O.T. Jones Jr. He served as pastor since June 2001 and was officially installed as Pastor of Holy Tabernacle by Bishop Benjamin J. Ravenel, Sr. in July 2002 as successor to the Late Pastor James E. Scott.

Born in Coatesville to the Late Adam F. Parr, Sr. and Margaret Brown Parr, he was educated in the Coatesville Area School System where he graduated from S. Horace Scott High School in 1961. He was employed at Lukens Steel Company for 33 years, retiring in June 2000 from the Crane Department.

Pastor Parr was a firm believer in Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." His mother, the Late Mother Margaret Parr, raised him in First Calvary COGIC and he accepted the Lord at an early age. While at First Calvary, under the Pastorate of the Late Pastor James Mobley, he served as Sunday School Teacher; Teacher for Children's Church and Church Administrator for many years. Pastor Parr was actively involved in the Youth Department traveling within the Jurisdiction promoting youth fellowship from Harrisburg to Philadelphia.

After being called by God to ²Teach & Preach the Gospel², Pastor Parr studied at the Grace Bible Institute in Coatesville. With the recommendation of The Late Pastor James E. Scott, he was ordained in 1987. He served Holy Tabernacle as Sunday School Teacher and Bible Study Teacher. Pastor Parr faithfully served the Late Pastor Scott as Assistant Pastor and Church Administrator. Through Pastor Parr's intervention and initiative, much of the Late Pastor Scott's vision for renovating Holy Tabernacle Church and developing effective ministries within the Body of Christ became a reality.

As a newly appointed pastor with a heart for the people of God, Pastor Parr endeavored to please the Lord and to prepare the Body of Christ to "Make Disciples of Men" and to "Build God's Kingdom One Soul At A Time."

Pastor Parr served his community for 15 years by supporting the "People Helping People Soup Kitchen." Additionally, he served as the Program Chairman for the Ministerial Alliance of Coatesville and Vicinity for the past 5 years.

In addition to his ministry endeavors, he enjoyed traveling, bowling, going to the movies and of course, eating. It's no secret, he loved good food and he loved to eat.

He had a loving heart and was known to say, "I Love You, and there is NOTHING you can do about it." He faithfully demonstrated his favorite scripture I Corinthians 13:13 "Now abideth faith, hope and love; but the greatest of these is love." God richly blessed Pastor Parr to be a dedicated Man of God as well as a wonderful husband, a supportive father and loving grandfather and great grandfather.

Surrounded by his family, Pastor Parr went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2014. He was preceded in death by one brother, Adam F. Parr, Jr.

He will be remembered by his beloved wife Evangelist Charlotte Parr; two sons, Bryan M. (Yolanda) Parr of Chester, PA., Darren K. Parr of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Ronnette S. Tooles and Denisha M. (Michael-Zane) Johnson both of Coatesville; and one sister, Juanita (George) Richardson of Coatesville. He also leaves seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and many other relatives, colleagues, friends as well as his church family, and many spiritual sons and daughters who affectionately called him Dad.
