Edna Lydia Washington, 96, of Coatesville, formerly of Paoli, slipped away into eternal rest Monday March 21, 2016 at home, surrounded by her family. Born in Morstein,Pa., she was the daughter of the late Bertha Brown and Alfred W. Nash, Sr. She was the wife of the late Norman Washington, Sr.
Edna was employed at the Royer-Graves School for the Blind, and also worked at Bryn Mawr Rehab for many years. She worked as an LPN at Cathcart Nursing home until she retired.
She was a faithful member of the Paoli Baptist Church, where she served for 42yrs as a Pre - School, Sunday School & Vacation Bible School teacher & Childrens' choir director. She sang in the Adult choir, worked in the kitchen and maintained the church sanctuary and choir loft.
Enda found joy in wallpapering, painting and gardening. She was a faithful woman of God. She lived the life of serving until her health began to fail. She was preceded in death by a son, Norman Washington, Jr., a daughter, Virginia E. Charles and all of her siblings: Alfred, Theodore, Harry, James, Clifford, Sarah and Grace.
She leaves one daughter, Florence Davenport at Brandywine Hall; many grandchildren, great grands and great great grands, other relatives and friends.
Celebration Services will be held 4 pm Saturday March 26, 2016 at the Paoli Baptist Church, 33 E. Lancaster Ave, Paoli. A visitation will be held beginning at 3:30 pm. There will be no public viewing. Interment will be private.
All flowers can be sent to the church.
