IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy L.
Shelton-Brown
October 26, 1941 – November 27, 2023
Dorothy L. Shelton-Brown, of West Bradford, Coatesville, PA, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA. She was 82 years old.
Born in Newberry, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Douglas Glen and Jannie Mae Brown.
Sudie, as she was affectionately known, was a 1959 graduate of S. Horace Scott Senior High School. She worked as an EKG Technician at the Coatesville Veterans Medical Center until she retired.
Dorothy enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets. She loved calla lily flowers, crocheting, and knitting. She would knit blankets for family and even sewed Easter outfits for her children. Her children called her "the queen of sewing". She loved to bake and some of her specialties were rum-baked chicken, rum raisin cake, and pumpkin bread. Her recipes will continue to be enjoyed by her family.
She enjoyed listening to music sung by Tom Jones, and Earth, Wind & Fire. And let it be known that she was a BIG-time major fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, even more than her son Stephen. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen G. Beeks; and brother, Robert L. Brown.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Lawrence "Buzz" Brown; four children, Stephen E. Shelton (wife Erika), Eric A. Shelton (Sherry), Mark E. Shelton (wife Lynette), and Lawrence Brown Jr., all of Coatesville; a dear and precious grandson, Corey Hudson; 29 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren on the way, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service in her memory will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Wright Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 725 Merchant St., Coatesville, PA. A visitation for friends to greet the family will begin at 2:15 PM. The family is asking those attending to wear Philadelphia Eagles attire.
