Dock L. Meeks, Sr., "Dock", 86, of Coatesville, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester.
Born in Kings Mt. , NC , he was the son of the late Jack Ward of Chicago, IL., and the late Ada Meeks Forney of Union Mills, NC. He was the husband of Helen Boyd Meeks with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
He received his early education in the Kings Mt. School System. He worked at the Lukens Steel Company for 30 years. He was a member of the First Apostle FBH Church for over fifty years, where he actively served in all the auxiliaries of the church. He loved supporting the church, and other city activities.
He was most recently preceded in death by one daughter Rev. Gloria "Deany" Meeks in 2011.
He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife; Helen Boyd Meeks, eight daughters, Elder Carolyn L. Meeks of Coatesville, Co-Pastor Melissa Ann Washington (Pastor Richard) of Lancaster, Calif., Mable A. "Toni" Meeks of Columbia, MD., Patsy M. Meeks of Coatesville, Peggy E. Boyd (Joseph) of Ohio, Savannah Neighbors of Washington DC. ; two sons, Charles (Rosetta) Stevenson Meeks of Allentown and Dock L. Meeks, Jr. of Coatesville; five brothers; James Forney of Coatesville and Dennis Forney of Union Mills, NC., Roger, Glen and Galloway Hickman all of Chicago, IL; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two godchildren; Jacques Roberts and Tiffany Tittles, two sister-in-laws: Susie Mason and Alberta Boyd, one aunt; Lenore Meeks of Coatesville, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
