IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dianne C.
Bryant
November 19, 1942 – September 12, 2024
Dianne Cecilia Bryant, 81, of Coatesville, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia.
Born and raised in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late John William Valentine, Sr. and Mabel Brunson Valentine.
Dianne was a proud 1960 graduate of Bishop Shanahan High School and went on to further her education, earning an associate degree. A dedicated professional, Dianne spent many years serving the State of Pennsylvania, first as Manager of the Unemployment Office in both Philadelphia and Pottstown, and later in Safety and Compliance at Drexel University for Sodexo. For several years she worked at Freedom Village in Caln Township. Her unwavering commitment to her work earned her the respect and admiration of many.
Her vibrant and outgoing personality made her the life of any gathering. Dianne loved to entertain, often hosting family and friends in her home, where her warmth and joy were contagious. Outside of work, she channeled her creativity into crafts, making beautiful wreaths and decorating her home with flair.
Known for her impetuous personality, Dianne had a unique ability to make people laugh—even after making them mad! She and her beloved German shepherd, Kash, shared a playful bond, often squabbling over who was really in charge of the household.
A passionate fan of Philadelphia sports, Dianne cheered enthusiastically for the Eagles, Sixers, and Phillies. In the kitchen, she was known for her exceptional cooking, with her potato salad, smothered pork chops, succotash, and candied yams becoming family staples. She also had a special fondness for coffee, donuts, and Werther's candy, often indulging in trips to Wawa to satisfy her cravings.
Dianne's love of adventure took her across the globe, with memorable travels to the Caribbean, Europe, and Istanbul. She would regale family and friends with stories of her journeys, filled with wonder and excitement. Music was another of her passions, especially the soulful voice of Aretha Franklin, the rhythms of Bruno Mars, and the timeless classic "Before I Let Go" by Frankie Beverly and Maze, which never failed to get her dancing.
Dianne was also deeply engaged with her community, serving as a proud member of the NAACP and an outspoken political activist.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, April Samantha Bryant.
Dianne is survived by her son, Wister T. "Chipper" Bryant (Shirea) of Coatesville; her brother, John William Valentine, Jr. (Marie) of Boothwyn, PA; two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Elijah; her nephew, John Valentine III; her aunt, Mildred Brunson; her godchildren, Jay Ray of Coatesville and Dana Ray of Richmond, VA; as well as a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
