Dennis S. Thompson, Sr.

August 20, 1957 — May 26, 2026

Dennis S. Thompson Sr., affectionately known as “Denny”, graced this Earth with his presence on August 20, 1957, on loan from the Lord to Charles S. Thompson, Sr. and Thelma E. Mobley Thompson in Coatesville, PA. He lived a profound life on this Earth for 68 years. He gained his entry into glory peacefully at home on May 26, 2026.

Denny was educated in the Octorara Area School District located in Atglen, PA. He was a hard worker and held numerous jobs throughout his adult life. He was employed at Pepperidge Farms for 30 years. He started as a machine cleaner and was later promoted to Lead of Sanitation until his retirement in June of 2025.

He was a member of Mount Zion AME Church in Atglen, PA.

Denny was very laid back and truly enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. Some of his favorite pastimes included going to the beach, skipping rocks at the waterfront or watching the Philadelphia Eagles, which was his favorite football team.

If he wasn’t at home and you couldn’t reach him on the phone, there was no need to be alarmed; just go to the Farmer’s Market in New Castle, DE, and you would surely find him there, strolling through the halls.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Thompson, Sr.; two brothers, Charles “Juney” Thompson Jr., Curtis “Curtie” Thompson; and one sister, Lorraine Thompson.

He leaves to cherish his memories to his two sons, Dennis S. Thompson Jr. of Coatesville, PA, Terrence Lambert of Parkesburg, PA; one daughter, Kenisha Duncan of Chester, PA; six grandchildren: Zipporah Thompson, Dennis Thompson III, Scott Thompson, Nee’Asia Duncan, Lamar Duncan and Dahkeem Williams; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Thompson (Annabelle) of Yeadon, PA, Michael Pennington of Coatesville, PA; two sisters, Deborah Lambert of Parkesburg, PA, Darlene Perry (Melvin) of Baltimore, MD; mother-in-law, Yvonne Mitchell; two uncles, Robert Thompson and Melvin Thompson; one aunt, Florence Richardson; best friends, Sue Donia, Maureen Hagamon, Bruce and Julia Sheller and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
